News Flash: Visa Bulletin Updates on YouTube

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) Visa Bulletin provides vital information to those seeking to file an immigrant visa petition.

Each month, a bulletin is made available to the public via the Travel.State.Gov website. It summarizes the availability of immigrant numbers during that month for “Final Action Dates” and “Dates for Filing Applications.” This serves as an indicator of when immigrant visa applicants should assemble and submit required documentation to the National Visa Center (NVC).

To make sense of this bulletin, the DOS has started a new monthly program on YouTube. The approximately hour-long live stream allows Charlie Oppenheim, Chief of the Visa Control and Reporting Division, to share his take on the state of the visa numbers for the upcoming month. Currently, viewers can see the recording of the April Visa Bulletin review.

Where Can I See This Video?

The monthly “Chats with Charlie” videos will be available on the @TravelGov YouTube channel. The first chat took place on March 17, 2021 at 1:00 pm EST and discussed the April Visa Bulletin.

Can I Ask Questions?

Questions can be emailed to [email protected] ahead of the event with “Chat with Charlie Question” in the subject line. Questions will also be taken via the YouTube Live Chat and will be answered in real-time. The event is intended to address issues of general interest related to the content of the Visa Bulletin, and no policy, case, or post-specific questions will be accepted.
